The 1930's

During this period the club saw little success. 1929-30 saw the start of the decline,  a record of a 111 goals were conceded and the away win didn't come until mid-March at Nelson Res, with a 4-3 win.  For the 1st time in the club history, due lack of finances the F.A. Cup in the 1930-31 season was not entered and duly gate receipts were down. 1931-32 saw the team  finish second bottom with only 18 points and it was only possibility of the loss of Christie Park that saw the club continue the following season. 1932-33 saw the team finished with double the points on 32, and the reserve team was planed to be reformed.

1933 -1934   Saw  the club financially sound for the first time but at the cost of the team who finished third from the bottom. The full board resigned on block planing to seek re-election, however in June 1934  a new board was elected.  The following season, 1934-35, the club finished the season mid-table and on the playing side due lack of players one of the directors, Rev Lancaster played in in game at Barrow. 1935-36 the team ended sixth in the league and the gates were slightly up. The following season, 1936-37 they finished mid-table but the club reach the FA. Cup 1st Round proper for the first time,losing 0-1 at South Liverpool.  The next season, 1937-38, saw little cup success and the team ended sixth again. With 1930's coming to a close in 1938-39 the team finished lower mid-table.  1939-40 the Second World war broke out and after only three games in the Lancashire Combination League in September the league was suspended and due to traveling difficulties the club resigned from the Combination. They joined the North Lancashire League, finishing runners-up, with a win away at Lancaster City 11-0.
