In 1898-99 the team entered the Lancaster & District League, losing their first game away against Skerton Reserves on September 17. They lost again at home to St. Peters 1-8 on September 17, followed on October 1 by a 0-16 drubbing at Scotforth.

Results did pick up (slowly) and on October 22 the team won at Caton 6-5. The season ended with a 9th. place finish. The league table was:-
