Sean first joined Morecambe in 1952 and later rejoined in 1955, making 19 appearances. From the club he moved to Netherfield, his bulk of his playing career was spent at Lancaster City with 9 seasons. He later moved to Derry City, in the Irish League, Darwen and Carnforth Rangers. Sean returned to Morecambe FC to become Reserve Team coach under manager Dave Roberts. In 1974 he became manager of Lancaster City were he spent 6 successful season with them, before being appointed manager of Workington for a brief spell. Sean was appointed Manager of Morecambe in early 1984, he resigned one year later in 1985 after working on a small budget, some say this hindered his success has manager. Sean is currently back with the club working alongside with Jim Harvey.
