ALAN SPAVIN 1975 -1976
Born in Lancaster, as a junior played for Carnforth Rangers. A natural inside-forward or midfield player. Had a long spell between 1958-74 at Preston North End. Alan became Player-Manager at Morecambe after the resignation of former manager Dave Roberts in 1975, making 30 appearances for the club before himself resigning in 1976 to be assistant-manager at American club Washington Diplomats. Alan later returned to play briefly for Lancaster City 1976-77. Alan also had a term at Telford United as player-coach. On retiring from the game as a player he became Youth Officer at Preston North End before returning to the USA to continue his career in coaching and managing in American football.
